April Favourites // Sweet As Mae

May 01, 2016

Hello Sweeties! It's that time of the month again for a monthly favourites. I found that April was the product loving month for me. I loved so much and found it difficult to narrow it down.
Prepare yourself for a ramble everyone, because I could talk all day about some of these products!

Wow. Has this product changed my skincare routine! Micellar waters have been all the rage in the beauty community recently, and I guess I'm a little late to the bandwagon. But for me, the reviews are totally accurate. This product is basically a cleanser in water form. Sounds ridiculous, and I have to admit I was a little skeptical at first. Like seriously, doesn't tap water work the same? No. I use this to remove my makeup/as my first cleanse at night (don't double cleanse? Check out Caroline Hirons' post - you should!). I apply a small amount to a cotton pad and wipe it all over my face. This removes makeup in literally seconds. This stuff is super gentle and fast. Possibly the most refreshing product my skin has ever encountered. I do believe it has helped clear my breakouts because it cleanses so well and doesn't leave a trace of impurities. Plus it's super affordable and comes in different sizes - whole package!

This stuff has been a firm favourite of mine for many years. It saved my dry lips and is possibly my fave lip treatment. It's pretty much an everything ointment - burns, cuts, scars you name it. My skin has been really bad recently, and none of my spot treatments were doing the trick. I only get a few spots, but they are always very big and really red, and even once they've healed the redness lingers for weeks afterwards. Why did I never try Papaw? It heals almost everything, right? I have been using this on my spots for about a week and I can honestly say it has almost completely cleared my skin. It might sound a bit far fetched but trust me, if you're having real trouble with a few pesky spots give this stuff a go! I apply directly to spots with a clean finger before bed and it's working wonders on my breakouts.

I'm not going to ramble much about this because I'm doing a full review of it next week. I am loving this stuff, it's a great loose powder. I have been using it for a couple weeks now and I'm really enjoying it's finish. Another affordable product so I'm having trouble finding a fault with this stuff! Like I said, I'm keeping my lips sealed until next week's review!

This brush is my multi-tasking savior. I could honestly apply all my face makeup with only this brush and a blending sponge. This brush is the perfect shape for my face which makes it such a multi-tasker for me. It's not too big for my cheeks but not too small for all over product application. I use this brush to apply powder, bronzer, blush, and it can be used to apply foundation or bb cream too. This brush is amazing because it always picks up the right amount of product and blends it seamlessly into the skin. I so wish RT sold this brush separately, but still the whole set includes amazing brushes it's worth the investment. Check out my review of the whole set here.

This polish from Essie is absolutely stunning. It's a deep red which is perfect as NZ is coming into Autumn, so it's been my go-to nail shade in April. And all Essie polishes are quick drying. QUICK DRYING. No more sitting around for your nails to dry and then getting impatient and smudging them. Other brands like OPI have amazing formulas too but I'm too impatient for polish that isn't quick drying, so Essie is my fave nail brand. Plus Essie polishes stay on well for at least 5 days without chipping, which is saying something because I use my hands a lot!

6. Typo Hello 2016 A5 Buffalo Journal (No Longer Available)$19.99 NZD

I bought this diary back in September when I had a sneaky splurge on Typo online. I really love this diary, it's a daily one which is great for me because I always have notes for specific days. It has standard diary things too like small calendars and contact pages etc. It's also a great size and has a cute design that looks good on my desk (very important diary factor haha).

I love blogging, but I love reading blogs even more. I want to start putting a blog into my monthly favourites every month to support the blogging community, because I'm always loving a blog! From Roses was a stand out for me this month, Rebecca writes the most lovely posts and her photographs are absolutely beautiful! She posts every single day and has a mixture of beauty, lifestyle and style. I find myself waiting for her new post every day because I know it'll be something original. She has turned into one of my top blogging idols, and I highly highly recommend you check her out!

What are your April faves?

  7. I'm so in love with the garnier water. I've used it nearly everyday for over a year now. I've gone through a fair few bottles and I love it. Even my boyfriend enjoys taking my makeup off with the 'magic water' so no complaints from me ;). The buffing brush is also a daily staple! I have two now & can't get enough! :)

  10. Hi Mae,
I'm a fan of Garnier Micellar Water too, such an affordable good product to take off my makeup, though I always follow up with a good cleanser. RT brushes are amazing, I only own two but they were some of the best purchases of my life.

I really like Rebecca's blog too. She has beautiful photos, just as you said and she's so lovely to always reply to comments, something I truly appreciate as a reader.
