Hello Sweeties! Here in New Zealand Summer is well on it's way, and that calls for new skin and makeup habits to suit the sunny season. For me, I spend half my Summer in the water, whether it's a pool party or a trip to the beach, so I like to go extra natural on the makeup. In the Summer months I like wearing minimal makeup that makes my skin look healthy, fresh and awake, even if I skipped a few hours sleep the night before watching Netflix!
Hello Sweeties! Okay, I have a bit of explaining to do.
I know I've been offline for about 3 months now, and I'm sorry. Sometimes in life, things happen, and everything can change in the matter of an instant. I know change is a part of life as we know it, but that doesn't mean it's any less unexpected or difficult to deal with. I've had a lot of personal things going on in my life recently. Although I am as honest as possible on this blog, I don't think it's necessary to explain the nitty gritty details of my personal situation at the moment. I hope you guys respect that x
Everything kind of happened at once. I went offline. I felt like I didn't want to put up all these happy posts when my heart wasn't in that happy place, I felt like it was wrong. I feel like I've come so close to my little blogging family, it felt so out of place to be acting in a way I didn't feel. I'm sorry I just left, and I'm sorry there's been no posts. I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things, and I felt terrible for neglecting Sweet As Mae. After all, I made this blog because I loved writing and it made me happy.
So I'm back. I can't promise three posts a week, I'm going on holiday over Christmas and won't be able to post very often. But I just wanted to let you guys know that I'm here, and I would never leave Sweet As Mae as a whole. I hope you guys all understand and are excited for up coming content on my blog! Like I said, I'm not making a set schedule again just yet, but I'll get there. After all, change is part of life as we know it, right? So I guess Sweet As Mae is going through it's own change, in it's own way. Love you guys loads,

Stay Sweet,
Hello Sweeties! Today I just wanted to do a super quick update style post just to catch you up on what's been going on for me recently, and let you know that I'll be missing a few blog posts next week.
Basically, I'm moving house! I've moved house about ten times in my life, so it's nothing new for me. But it does mean that a lot of my blog props and photography stuff has had to be packed away already and my room is such a mess from all the pre-move prep. This means I haven't been able to take a lot of photos for you guys but I've been trying my best!
Alongside the move, I've been really busy with dance recently. I've had some competitions out of school in addition to my term three school showcase rehearsals. It's been a really busy time and I've been struggling to keep up with blogging, hence giving you guys this lil update.
I just wanted to fill you guys in on my life at the moment so if I miss a post or my blogs don't seem perfect then I hope you'll understand! I'll try my best to post but I will be having the week off next week and maybe a couple posts after that, but I'll try and get back into the swing of things ASAP!
Stay Sweet,
Photo from my blog post, March Favourites, see it here |
Hello Sweeties! I love Sundays. They're usually the real wind-down from the week for me. I like to take Sundays slow and do things I enjoy if possible. I think of Sundays as the day where I really relax and let my mind rest from the week, so I am always sure to fill it with relaxing activities. I thought I would share a few of those with you today to give you a little insight and maybe some inspiration into my perfect Sunday!
Hello Sweeties! I'm a lounge wear lover - it's no secret. For me there's nothing better than getting home from school and changing into my oldest, cosiest, shapeless items I own that are most unflattering. But I love them anyway. They make me feel so comfy and at ease, and I'll admit I probably couldn't cope without my over sized sweaters and baggy track pants! I wanted to give the lounge wear a little TLC, so I put together this post where I'll be going through my lounge wear style Monday to Friday. Enjoy!
Hello Sweeties! Among my many makeup obsessions, I've been really into highlighters recently. I feel like a good glow can really up your makeup game and I'm personally a big fan of them goddess cheekbones. So for the love of glow, I've managed to construct a list of some highlighting products I've been semi-drooling over recently.
Hello Sweeties! I'm a huge fan of makeup and beauty as you all know. But there are many a struggles that come with my beauty regime and many others' I'm sure. Of course these struggles are not the biggest of earth's problems but they are somewhat significant and surely relatable! As I said in my last 'struggles post" (Instagram Struggles, see it here!), this isn't a serious post just a little jokey post to shed some light on beauty struggles!
Hello Sweeties! A lot of girls won't wear any makeup when going to the gym for a workout or a sport training/exercise class. I generally do the same, but there are some days where I want to do a workout without scaring people outside with my facial nudity! If you don't want to wear any makeup while working out that's fine, as I often don't myself. But if I need a little confidence booster or just a little coverage on any problematic areas these are the products I will use and how I use them.
Hello Sweeties! Today I wanted to have a lil chat with you all. I personally love these posts. The sit down with a cup of tea and ramble my thoughts onto a fresh blog post. I love the casualness of these posts, and just sharing my thoughts with you guys brings me so much joy. Today's topic is spots. A very broad title, I'm sure you're all aware. Today I wanted yo share my thoughts on the topic of spots and how they can affect your self-esteem - maybe give you all a little confidence booster or a few words of encouragement :) Other than that it;s basically a Sweet As Mae ramble with meaning haha!
Hello Sweeties! I feel like I'm living in the generation of sneakers and trainers. It's like everyone has dropped the Gucci pumps (like I ever had any of those . . . . haha!) for some Adidas Superstars or Nike Roshes, and I have to say I'm a lover of the trainer trend. The day that comfortable, cute trainers were in fashion I was one happy girl! I'm a big shoe lover at the best of times, but comfortable AND pleasing to look at? I'm sold! I didn't think it was fair to be loving this many sneakers without sharing my favourites with you guys, so here it is! The Sneaker series.
Hello Sweeties! I was looking through my recent blog posts and realised I haven't done a food themed post in yonks (see my last food post here), and although it's not one of my top blog topics I still enjoy the odd food related post. So today I'm going to have a little chat with you guys about the Berry Benefit - or Benefits, I should say!
Hello Sweeties! Most of you reading this will probably have at least one instagram account. You know, that social media platform where you pretend your life is that little bit more interesting than it actually is through photos (I know I for sure do that every so often ;) ). I feel like people don't take into account the struggles that go behind every snapshot on your gram, so I wanted share a few of my own instagram struggles with you today. QUICK DISCLAIMER: All the situations in this post are all true but it is a bit of joke so don't take it too seriously haha!
Hello Sweeties! Although I'm in love with the floaty fabrics and pretty prints of Summer fashion, I can't deny my obsession with Winter clothing. This year in particular I have really gone to town with my Winter fashion choices, so I wanted to share a few of my favourite outfits with you today - but kickin it old school with some fashion flat lays.
Hello Sweeties! Throughout 2016 I feel like liquid lipsticks have really peaked in popularity. So many brands are offering so many formulas and colours, and I have to say I'm a huge fan of the whole liquid lipstick craze. I've been eyeing up liquid lipsticks from a ton of brands recently and I wanted to share a few on my wishlist.
Hello Sweeties! I'm finally getting back into the swing of normal blog posts, and I'm really excited for the Sweet As Mae posts to come. Having those "on fleek" eyebrows is really on trend right now. And it can be pretty difficult to navigate your way through pomades and perfect arches. I wanted to share my favourite eyebrow products and techniques to spark some inspiration for your own brow power!
Hello Sweeties! Although a lot of my USA spending was down to makeup (see my two USA Makeup hauls here and here), I did purchase some clothing items that were super unique and different to NZ clothing. Like my other hauls, this is not a "show-off" post, I just wanted to share the things I bought so you guys could get some style inspiration or pick them up yourselves :)

Twas' a long day! Our flight back to NZ wasn't until 9:30pm so we had a whole day just waiting to get home. We were all super tired so as you can imagine it was a little tense! We went and saw the Painted Ladies in the morning, they were so so pretty and I got some cool shots of the vintage houses. My brother, dad and I had a look into the science museum while my mum and sister popped into the art gallery. The museum was pretty cool, it had a mini aquarium and an indoor rain forest section.

Started this morning with an amazing brunch at our hotels buffet. Smoothies, croissants, waffles, I always find buffets quite dangerous because there's so much to eat. I always get carried away and end up feeling a tad overfull! Had a little relax time back in our rooms before heading out on our San Francisco City bus Tour!

Today was finally the day! It was Mae's Shopping Marathon. Seriously though, it was probably the best day of my life! My mum, sister and I headed down to West fields San Francisco nice and early and had a snack before starting the shopping. The mall was seven stories high, three of which were Nordstrom alone.

Hello Sweeties! I'm going to continue my USA diaries because I know some of you are interested in my shots from the states and what I did over there, but I'm going to post them in big bulks so I can get back into my normal posts asap. Because these posts aren't for everyone, which is absolutely fine but I want to make sure everyone is happy with my blog content :)
Hello Sweeties! Part two of my USA Makeup and Beauty Haul is finally here! I'm trying my absolute best to get all my America posts done and dusted so we can get back into normal posts. Never did I expect my computer to break. Twice. But I guess you just have to go with the flow, right? As per usual I'm not trying to show off with this haul, merely share some purchases for you guys to give you some makeup-spiration :) This will be another makeup ramble so sit back, relax and get ready to witness some serious makeup porn!
Hello sweeties! As most of you know, I went on holiday to the states recently. As a total makeup and beauty junkie, I was pretty much in heaven when I went to Sephora! I'm sorry this post has taken a little longer than expected but I've been so busy with my diary entry posts, plus this week was my first week back at school.

Went down to L.A airport this morning to catch a plane over to Las Vegas. I was so excited, I feel like Vegas is the sort of place you need to see at least once in your life! Smooth flight over, enjoyed the views and loved seeing Vegas from above. We get off the plane and head out the airport . . and almost die. Seriously though, we stepped out in FORTY DEGREES CELSIUS.

It was another day of Universal Studios today. We got to explore Harry Potter Land today, and quick shout out to H.P Land because it was amazing! I was low key waiting to see Ron in Honeydukes haha! I'm a big fan of the Harry Potter, not so much the books but I'm in love with the films. I had a bit of a YOLO moment in H.P Land too.
July 4th 2016,
I spent this morning packing up my things before taking a shuttle out of Anaheim and into Santa Monica. Last night I said goodbye to Disneyland (cry) but today it's hello to Universal Studios, which I was super pumped for. Once we got to our new hotel in Santa Monica (can I just say what a beautiful part of LA Santa Monica is) we headed straight to Universal Studios.
Hello Sweeties! In the midst of my trip to the states and all the diary entry posts, hauls etc. I haven't had a chance to post about Sweet As Mae's one year anniversary! It was officially on the 17th of July but since I was in America at that time I've had to postpone it slightly. But it was around this time last year was when I wrote my first post.
July 3rd 2016,
I got up petty early today, it was Day 2 at Disneyland and I could not contain my excitement. Yesterday night was so amazing I knew that today would be even better. Going somewhere that you've only seen in movies and dreamed of in the craziest of dreams is absolutely insane. I still can't quite comprehend that I'm here, a small girl from New Zealand is about to go to Disneyland for the second day in a row. Crazy.
Hello Sweeties! I'm finally back with a proper blog post for you guys. Our computer was fixed faster than I expected so I'll be straight back into blogging from now on. Today is the first of my USA Diary entries from my trip in the states! A quick disclaimer, I'm not trying to show off with these posts, I'm just trying to share my experiences/travel with you guys for a bit of fun and so my readers who aren't from the states can get a little insight of what it's like! I'll be posting one of these entries a day along with other USA posts like hauls etc in case diary entries aren't your thing, so I hope you guys enjoy :)
Hello Sweeties! For my last post before I head to the states on Saturday, I wanted to write something travel related. Packing for a holiday is so much fun, the excitement from filling your luggage with all your holiday bits and bobs is so amazing! Plus long haul flights don't sit great with me so I like to have my carry on luggage packed and prepped so I can feel as comfortable as possible. Today I'm going to ramble my way through my travel essentials for my carry on.
Hello Sweeties! Stripes are probably my go to style staple when it comes to patterns. Their classic, timeless vibe is my absolute favourite and they just work! Since they obtain over 50% of my wardrobe, I thought that they deserved a post to show stripes a little love. I'm going to share a few of my favourite striped items and how I like to style and match them, focusing on Winter style :)
Hello Sweeties! Manicures are something I really love to do whenever I'm having a pamper session. I really enjoy giving my nails that extra bit of attention and the results are lovely. I like to really go to town with my manicures, giving them the royal treatment they deserve.
Hello Sweeties! I know this is the second lifestyle post in a row that's about me, so sorry if you don't like the whole get-to-know-me style posts. But recently I've really been loving learning more about other Bloggers personally, and thought some of you may feel the same and want to know a bit more about me.
Hello Sweeties! I've wanted to do this post since Acqua (from onwayacqua) posted it a couple months ago. I think it's really important that throughout this blog I'm sharing myself personally with you guys.
Hello Sweeties! Since it's finally coming into the Wintery season here in NZ, I wanted to dedicate a post to one of my favourite Winter style pieces - the roll neck.
Hello Sweeties! Today I'm going to just have a little chat to you guys. It's about something that I thought I should address, and if you're not interested that's fine
Hello sweeties! This week I'm just going to be posting a little announcement. I've known this for a long time but didn't want to announce it until now, it's just something exciting for me and I needed to tell you so you had a heads up.
Recently I've been really into powders. I find that there are so many different types of powders that can change the look of your skin, and I have found that they can do more than just set your face. So for this weeks post I am going to fill you guys in on one of my current favourite powders - Rimmel Match Perfection Loose Powder.
Mean girls are real. Although they're mimicked and made as a joke in the famous 2004 film, mean girls do exist. I learned that the hard way. I just felt like sitting down and basically chatting with you guys about one of many mean girls in my life.
