Drugstore Makeup Haul // Sweet As Mae

January 19, 2016

Hey everyone! First I want to quickly apologise for this going up on Tuesday instead of Monday, I have had a terrible cold for the past week and have been lying in bed :( Not the best way to start 2016, but I'm back and I'm super excited for this post! A couple of weeks ago myself and one of my best friends went on a big shopping trip - and needless to say we got a bit carried away. We're both huge makeup junkies and went on a big cosmetic splurge!

It's all drugstore because I wanted to focus on filling gaps in my makeup collection as it's not very big. Most of these products are from either Kmart or Farmers with a couple Body Shop things. I personally don't think The Body Shop is drugstore as there products are quite pricey here in NZ compared to other countries. But I threw them into this haul anyway! This is mostly going to be photos and list of products I purchased otherwise it would be WAY too long haha! I've already rambled enough so let's get started!

Face:

The Body Shop Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream Shade 01 - $25.75
I've wanted this for ages, I like BB creams a lot and wanted to give this one a go.

Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder Shade 003 Peach Glow - $15.50
I was actually meant to get the transparent pressed powder (haha) but this is a powder everyone raves about and I wanted to see if the reviews were true!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer Shade 10 Ivory - $16.99
Another staple, a lot of beauty youtubers rave about this and I've wanted to try it for a long time.

Cheeks:

BYS Blush Trio Shade Heart Skipped A Beat - $9
These have amazing pigmentation for only $9! You get three decent sized blushes and the colours are very pretty and summery!

5th Avenue Blush Compact Shade Pink Sorbet - $8
This blush is so beautiful! I've used it a couple of times already and the colour pay off is great! It has a lovely sheen which is perfect for Summer.

Collection Shimmer Shade Blush Shade Blushalicious - $11
This is a lovely all in one highlight/blush, I adore the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and I want to start trying out more of their products. (See the concealer review here.)

Contouring/Highlighting:

The Body Shop Honey Bronzer Shade 03 Medium Matte - $33.25
I have wanted this for so long, it's a beautiful, subtle/natural bronzer with a really slight sheen to it. It looks like a proper tan! Plus it smells sweet like honey, so you can't really go wrong!

W7 Hollywood Bronze & Glow - $11
This is a major dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow Palette which is way more expensive! I can't compare the too (maybe one day!) but the W7 palette is a nice little kit. Pretty highlight shade and nice cool toned bronzer, I might have to do a proper review of this product!

5th Avenue Cream Illuminator - $10
I've never tried a cream illuminator but there are some amazing high end ones I want to try, so I decided to get the cheaper option first. It's a pretty gold shade but it looks quite glittery so I'll see how I go!

Australis Contour Palette - $21.50
I have wanted this for quite a while, lots of people rave about it and say it's a great beginners version of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit. I'm really enjoying this so far, this is another one that might need a full review!

Lips:

Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick Shade 38 - $16.99
This is one of my favourite items from the whole haul! I'm obsessed with pinky nude lips right now, and after Zoella raved about this during 2015 and it was compared to Tom Ford's lipstick in Spanish Pink, I knew I had to have it!It definitely fulfilled my expectations, the shade is so pretty!

Be Indulged Lip Gloss - came in a $10 set
Be Indulged is not a drugstore brand I'm familiar with, I've only seen it in Kmart so far. This is lovely little lipgloss that gives a slight tint and pretty sheen.

BYS Lip Gloss and Stick Duo Shade Nearly Nude - $3
I love this duo, it's so affordable and you get two products! I often prefer a shimmery lip to a matte lip but I have trouble finding a gloss to match a stick, so this is o helpful! The formulation of the stick isn't amazing but the gloss is great!

Eyes:

Be Indulged Mascara - came in a $10 set
I want to experiment more with mascaras as I don't have much of a range in my collection. This one seems pretty good so far, it doesn't apply too much product which I like.

Be Indulged Liquid Liner - came in a $10 set
I haven't used this yet but I love liquid liners and I'll be sure to tell you if I like it or not!

I hope you guys enjoyed this little *BIG* haul, I had so much fun taking pics of these products! I'll see you guys next week ♥

What are your favourite drugstore products?

  2. This stuff looks great. I don't normally use drugstore stuff since I'm a bit picky and like to stick with what doesn't upset my skin which tends to be higher end brands. I might have to try some of these!

    1. I totally agree, a lot of cheaper products can upset sensitive skin! Higher end products are always amazing but I can assure you there are some good finds in drugstores! :)
