Rimmel Match Perfection Loose Powder Review // Sweet As Mae

May 07, 2016

Recently I've been really into powders. I find that there are so many different types of powders that can change the look of your skin, and I have found that they can do more than just set your face. So for this weeks post I am going to fill you guys in on one of my current favourite powders - Rimmel Match Perfection Loose Powder.

Appearence:

This powder comes in a plastic container with a deep blue lid. Super simple packaging that isn't very luxurious, but it is a drugstore product so you can't expect hourglass-style packaging. It has 0.35 oz of product which isn't the biggest amount for a loose powder but I find I use such a small amount that it still lasts a very long time. The packaging is a little bulky so it isn't the best for travel, but I'm so in love with this stuff I make it work!

Application:

The application for this loose powder is really good. It applies beautifully and blends seamlessly into my skin. I set my under eyes with this and apply it with the Real Techniques Contour Brush. I've raved about this brush a lot, it's the perfect shape for my under eyes and it's so soft. This brush is (sadly) only sold in the Core Collection (which I have reviewed here), but is definitely worth the investment. For all over powdering I use the Real Techniques Buffing Brush that I mentioned in my April faves (see that post here). It's a great size and shape plus it's really soft like the contour brush which makes it great for all over setting. My only negative with the application is it's a bit messy, being a loose powder, and you have to tap off the excess product or else you look like you've stuffed your face into a bag of flour!

Finish:

This loose powder works wonders for me. I have tried other loose powders that make my skin look cakey and so matte you'd think I was a 2d image. With this powder that is not the case. It makes my skin the perfect amount of matte-ness and glides on so smoothly. It's super lightweight too, you can't tell that I have any powder on my skin. The formula is so lovely and for the price (NZD $20.99) this product is a total staple for me. The actual product isn't chunky and is quite finely milled which I love. This only comes in translucent which I prefer for loose powders as pigment can make them look cakey. I am heed over heels in love with this and I personally think this product is hugely underrated!
