May Favourites // Sweet As Mae

June 05, 2016

Hello Sweeties! It's that time again for yet another monthly favourites! You guys seem to really enjoy these posts, and I have a fair few things to share with you guys that I loved throughout May.

I have been absolutely loving this product! It's like no other BB cream I've ever tried! It comes out as a white thin cream but blends out into a colour that suits your skin tone beautifully. There are 4 different shades, this one is the lightest and is perfect for fair girls who want a little more colour without looking orange or cakey. It's super lightweight and feels like there's nothing on my skin, while still providing enough coverage that it covers redness or uneven skin tone beautifully. Keep in mind that it is a BB Cream, so it isn't a full coverage product. Perfect for day to day wear and I love it for school because it gives such a natural finish to the skin. It is a little pricey in NZ but there's a decent amount in the tube and a little goes a long way. Highly recommend!

Shaaanxo (for those of you who are familiar with beauty youtubers) has been raving about this for years, and I finally got my hands on it earlier in May. This is definitely up there with my Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. Due to the silly applicator it's not the best for blemish conceal, but I can look past that because for under eyes it's incredible! Amazing coverage with little to none fading or creasing throughout the day. Doesn't sink into any fine lines, it's so brightening and has a lovely finish too. Plus a small price tag - what else do you want in a concealer?

My eyebrow hairs are coarse, thick and curly. Pretty much a nightmare when you're trying to get those instagram worthy eyebrows. I've been on the hunt for an affordable brow gel for a couple months now and this one popped up in Farmers. I got it in transparent because my eyebrows hardly need tinting (haha!). So far I'm loving this product! The applicator is a little odd, but when you get used to it it's perfect for catching each and every eyebrow hair and putting them into place. Sets my eyebrows down beautifully and lasts a decent amount of time without crusting or going gross on my eyebrows, so yay!

ELF Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder St. LuciaI got this a long time ago (anyone remember my Xmas makeup post? See it here!), but kind of forgot about it as I started purchasing new and exciting makeup products. I'm gonna be honest, I'm really not a fan of the bronzer (my first impressions were very, very wrong last year!). It's pretty low pigmentation wise and goes a bit muddy if you're not careful. The blush on the other hand is so lovely! It's a peachy pink with a shimmer, similar to NARS Orgasm blush (but hella cheaper). I think that was the look they were going for, with the matte black packaging etc. In the pan the glitter looks super chunky - disco ball style - but on the cheeks it gives a beautiful natural glow. In contrast to the bronzer it doesn't go muddy and blends beautifully into the skin. If you're looking for
a drugstore blush (with a handy compact mirror included) be sure
to check this one out!

I mentioned this jacket last week in my How To Style Ripped Jeans post (see it here), and I wanted to give it a bit more recognition because it has been a staple in my Winter fashion recently. I've been a big fan of this sort of khaki green colour (in between my monochromes of course) and this jacket has been a chance for me to incorporate it into my style. I'm a massive fan of the adjustable waist and toggle detailing, plus it's super warm so perfect for Winter nights out. A little pricey but Jay Jays clothes are really nice quality and this will last a long time due to it's size.

DOTTI MOON BRACELET - GOLD NZD $9.99

I got this little bracelet in Dotti as I had a little dig through the boxes at the counter (some of my favourite jewelry pieces have been in those muddled boxes!). I've loved wearing it because as most of you know I'm a sucker for gold. And I feel like it's quite unique; the moons have that sort of vintage look to them and I've never seen anything like it. It doesn't seem to be online but it could still be in stores, so if you're interested have a little look in those counter boxes!

BLOG OF THE MONTH: ALONGCAMEKATHY

Kathy's blog has been my favourite of May. I am always a fan of her posts, but this month in particular she's written some awesome posts! All her words are so thoughtful and I really enjoy her writing style. She's also so very lovely and a fellow NZ Blogger, so be sure to check out her blog here

  2. I think the LA Girl Pro Concealer is definitely overpriced in NZ but definitely worth it. OnceIt and NZSale sometimes have good deals so I would wait for them :) Great post!!!
