USA Diary: The Longest Day

July 21, 2016

Hello Sweeties! I'm finally back with a proper blog post for you guys. Our computer was fixed faster than I expected so I'll be straight back into blogging from now on. Today is the first of my USA Diary entries from my trip in the states! A quick disclaimer, I'm not trying to show off with these posts, I'm just trying to share my experiences/travel with you guys for a bit of fun and so my readers who aren't from the states can get a little insight of what it's like! I'll be posting one of these entries a day along with other USA posts like hauls etc in case diary entries aren't your thing, so I hope you guys enjoy :)

July 2nd 2016,

Today was possibly the longest day ever! At 42 hours long (I'll explain haha) I was pretty over this Saturday by the end of it! I got up pretty early so I could finish packing. Our flight wasn't until 9:30pm at night but I had tickets to go to see an amazing dance company perform in Auckland with some other girls from my dance school so it was a pretty packed day! The show was absolutely insane, such beautiful dancing and professional choreography and costumes. I met up with my family after the show  and we grabbed a bite to eat before heading to the airport. Next was a whole lotta waiting and it felt like years before we finally got onto the plane. Luckily I had duty free to entertain me; I spent the majority of the wait staring at the Urban Decay and Nars counters!

I always thought long haul flights would be really fun, but 6 hours in I was pretty much done. The plane food was decent and I watched a few movies but I was so uncomfortable (Pubic Symphysis Dysfunction doesn't like being cramped in a small seat for 12 hours - see my post about my condition here) I didn't get a wink of sleep. Sitting in between my mum and sister didn't help, nothing to lean on and if I moved I would be on my mum's shoulder or my sister's chair! Not quite a goodnight sleep. I could not wait to get off that plane when we landed, the thought of Los Angeles was the only thing that got me through those last few hours.

We landed in Los Angeles at 3:00pm the same day we had left New Zealand (time zones
are weird) and hopped in a chill blaster of a shuttle and hit the road for an hour and a half trip to Anaheim. Some of the air conditioning vents were gone so needless to say the ride was less than comfortable! Once we got to our hotel and got our things together, we all freshened up and headed off to Disneyland for round one! Can I just say Disneyland was the most magical place! No matter how old you are, I strongly urge you to try and go someday. Everyone was so happy and people of all ages were having a great time. I bought some the classic Minnie Mouse ears and took some instagram worthy pics before going on some awesome rides. A few of my faves from today were Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and the Indiana Jones ride. We had dinner at Disney while watching the beautiful fireworks. They projected lanterns from tangled on one of the rides mountains and it was so pretty. We finished the night watching the famous Disneyland Light Parade! My mum especially loved it - she'd always wanted to go so I saw her inner child come out as we watched Disney princesses and fairies come through the streets of Disneyland covered in lights. I've only added a few pictures of the light parade because I don't want to spoil it for anyone, although I think it's slightly different every time.

Twas' a magical day!

Have you ever been to Disneyland?

  1. Sounds like a roller coaster of a trip! I also hate planes and the idea of it all just puts me off travelling altogether but once you land you instantly forget about the past 12 hrs haha!
Looking forward to more of your posts :)

    1. Definitely! I'm not a fan of planes myself - the thought of being in the air really freaks me out!
